Focus and Scope

Teoria ta metodika fizicnogo vihovanna [Theory and Methods of the Physical Education] is an international research-and-methodology journal established in 2000. It publishes research papers on physical education of children, teenagers and student youth, physical rehabilitation and sports training.

The purpose of the journal is to inform about and introduce the results of applied and fundamental research in physical education and sport.

The journal accepts research papers in:

  • theory and methods of teaching movements;
  • physical education of children and teenagers;
  • sports training of children and youth;
  • physical culture in school;
  • physical culture in prevention and treatment of diseases in children and teenagers;
  • theory and methods of professional training of physical culture teachers;
  • legal framework of physical culture in Ukraine.

Peer Review Process

All articles in this journal undergo peer review.

Once the paper has been assessed for the scope suitability and formatting compliance by the editor-in-chief, it undergoes peer review by an expert referee whose research specialization best matches that of the paper. Peer reviewing is “blind”, i.e. the reviewers know the author, who does not know the former.

The typical period of time allowed for reviews – 4 weeks (can be modified during the editorial process).

Open Access Policy

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

 

Archiving

The journal uses the LOCKSS system for distributed archival storage of the published content in numerous libraries and information centers. The participating libraries ensure long-term preservation of the full archives of the journal and automatic restoration of the damaged information. More…

Editorial Ethics

The Editorial Board of the Teoria ta metodika fizicnogo vihovanna [Theory and Methods of the Physical Education] aims to maintain international standards of editorial ethics.

  • The Editorial Board’s work rests on the principles of ethics of research publications set forth by the World Association of Medical Editors and COPE.
  • The Editorial Board works in compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and demands adherence thereto in research involving human subjects. The manuscripts must refere to the materials containing the approval of the research by the Ethics Committee of the university hosting the research.
  • Conflicts of interests between the authors and third parties are subject to resolution in accordance with the Law of Ukraine on intellectual property.

 

Ethical Principles

The principles of professional ethics governing the editor’s and publisher’s work are:

  • when deciding to publish an article, the editor of the journal proceeds from its scientific significance and accuracy of the presented data;
  • the editor assesses the manuscript content irrespective of the nationality or ethnicity, gender, political views, institutional affiliation of its author(s);
  • the unpublished data contained in the manuscript shall not be given to third parties without the author’s written consent, except for the purpose of peer reviewing;
  • the editor will not allow publication of the article in the instance of having reasonable grounds to conclude that the article contains plagiarized content or ideas;
  • the editor is responsible for resolving conflicts and doing whatever is necessary to prevent infringements of the author’s rights.

 

Reviewer’s Ethical Principles

The reviewer provides unbiased professional review of the article submitted for consideration based on the following principles:

  • the reviewer will respect the authors’ intellectual property and treat the manuscript received for review as confidential and such that cannot be given for consideration or discussion to third parties that are not authorized to do so by the Editorial Board;
  • the reviewer will offer objective assessment of the research results presented in the manuscript; personal criticism of the author is unacceptable;
  • the editor will be informed immediately of any conflict of interests between the reviewer and the author and requested to have this reviewer excluded from the article reviewing process.

 

Author-Guiding Principles

The responsibility for the novelty and accuracy of the research results rests on the author who will:

  • provide reliable research results that contain no erroneous or falsified data;
  • guarantee the originality of the research results;
  • provide adequate references to the data, facts, evidence used in the text of the article with the original sources listed;
  • ensure proper formatting of quotations;
  • clearly indicate and credit the contribution of other scientists to the matter under study;
  • not submit the manuscript sent to, under consideration in or already published by another journal.

The texts of the articles, tables, graphics, formulae are protected by the law on copyright.

The author of the article bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the facts, quotations, proper names, geographical names, names of organizations and institutions, and other information. 

 

Plagiarism Policy

The Editorial Board of the journal considers plagiarism in articles unacceptable (publication in a written or electronic form of the research results obtained and published by other persons as the author’s own contribution, or reprint of the published texts authored by other persons without proper reference thereto).

The articles must not contain:

  • copied or published work executed by other scholars and presented as the author’s own findings.
  • word-for-word copying of fragments of any text (from a single phrase to several sentences) without proper quotation formatting;
  • slightly modified copied material (re-phrased sentences, changes in the word order, etc.) without proper quotation/reference formatting;
  • other people’s thoughts, ideas or texts rendered in the author’s own words without providing proper references to the sources. 

The author must provide references to his or her own previously published works.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any manuscript containing borrowings  from previous publications without proper references thereto and can cancel any publication pursuant to a plagiarism complaint.
